MEDICAL COLLEGE OF GEORGIA HOSPITAL AND CLINICS
The Medical College of Georgia Hospital and
Clinics are the central focus of the residency training program. The 520-bed
teaching hospital and the expansive patient population provide broad
educational exposure. A wide range of pathological processes are regularly
encountered in a teaching institution. Residents have ample opportunity to
care for patients with common problems as well as, allowing them to develop
as well-rounded and experienced clinicians. Many of the outpatient
rotations are housed in the Ambulatory Care Center.

MCG CHILDREN'S MEDICAL CENTER (CMC)
A vital source to the Medical College of Georgia Hospital
and Clinics is the 149-bed MCG
Children's Medical Center.

UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL
University Hospital
is a teaching site for rotations in the pediatric emergency room and
obstetrics/gynecology. The newly renovated building is located just about a
block from the Family Medicine Center. The hospital has more than 612 beds and is
a combined private and county hospital. Moonlighting opportunities exist for
residents to serve as in-house first-call physicians for codes.

GEORGIA WAR VETERANS NURSING HOME
The Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home is a distinctive
structure located directly across from the Medical College of Georgia Hospital. It houses
more than 188 Georgia veterans who receive inpatient medical care, when necessary, at the
nearby Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where residents treat an average of
12 geriatric patients who require long-term skilled care. The nursing support is
exceptional and the facility is directed by a family physician.
VETERANS ADMINISTRATION (DOWNTOWN DIVISION)
This 165-bed VA hospital is located immediately adjacent to
the MCG Hospital. Here residents rotate through general and outpatient surgery. The hospital is largely staffed by residents and
faculty from MCG.

WINN ARMY COMMUNITY HOSPITAL- FORT
STEWART, GEORGIA
Winn Army Community Hospital in Fort Stewart, Georgia, is
located near Hinesville, Georgia, west of Savannah and about 150 miles south of
Augusta. Interns spend one month of obstetrical training there. During that
month, interns average around 30 deliveries as well as managing the Labor and Delivery
suite and post-partum care, assisting on cesarean sections, and performing circumcisions.

A sister residency program with emphasis on rural
Family Medicine. Residents matching there spend their intern year at MCG with MCG Family
Medicine
residents, then spend their PGY-2 and PGY-3 in Waycross, focusing on the special attributes,
challenges and benefits of rural primary care.
