Residency Program Reduction/Closure

1.0 Purpose
To outline the Institutional policy regarding possible Residency Program reductions and/or closures

2.0 Procedure

2.1 The following procedure will be followed in the event of a Residency Program reduction in force or closure.

2.2 In the event of Program reduction or closure, the Medical College of Georgia will make every effort to inform House Officers as soon as possible and to allow the House Officers already in the Program to complete their Training.  Reductions will be made first from the number of incoming House Officers.  In the event that a financial exigency requires a Program to be closed, the House Officer physicians will be assisted in identifying and entering a Program in which they can continue their education.
