Vision, Goals, Functions

Visions:

Establish the Medical College of Georgia as a leader in the movement of discoveries, data and technologies out of the research laboratory and into the commercial sector.

Goal:

Transform inventions into protected intellectual property which can become new products and services destined to improve health care and the quality of life for the people of the state and for society in general, while fostering teaching, research and service at MCG.

Functions:

  • process and evaluate Invention Disclosures

  • assess marketability and patentability
  • file for patents and other IP protection
  • market MCG technologies
  • create and consummate license agreements
  • collect IP-related revenues and transmit to MCGRI
  • assist in creating new business when appropriate
