The Research Coordinators United in Excellence (RESCUE) group began in April 1993 with sixteen research coordinators. The current roster now includes up to 80 individuals, although average meeting attendance is around 20 members. The group includes registered nurses, pharmacists, physicians, dentists, dental hygienists, certified clinical research coordinators, research assistants and administrative support staff.
Issues discussed in the meetings range from institutional issues to new federal rules and regulations from the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP).
The Office of Human Research Protection (OHRP) provides support for these meetings by facilitating the meetings, arranging speakers and providing logistics. A newsletter is posted to the OHRP web site after each meeting so those who were unable to attend may be notified of any changes.
Meetings
Meetings are monthly on the third Friday at 12:30 p.m, and locations will be announced. An email reminder is sent to those individuals identified as research coordinators in the IRB database.
