Objective
The mentoring program is designed to benefit the newly hired research coordinator. The job of a research coordinator is quite complex and some new coordinators may quickly begin to feel frustrated and overwhelmed by their duties. Interaction with a seasoned, positive coordinator will provide the support a new coordinator will need to perform his/her job effectively.
A seasoned, positive coordinator (mentor) will be matched with a new coordinator (mentee) who registers for Coordinator University. Mentors and mentees will be matched based upon criteria such as research area(s), areas of interest, and career goals.
Mentors will provide advice, guidance and share their knowledge of study coordination and management. Mentors and mentees are encouraged to develop a regular schedule of communication (by telephone, e-mail or in person) during the new coordinators’ first year. The formal mentoring program should last 9-12 months.
