All studies that are conducted by MCG, MCGHI, or Augusta VAMC faculty, staff or students or that utilize any resources of the MCG, MCGHI, or Augusta VAMC Only those studies that meet all four of the following criteria:
  1. Industry Sponsored
  2. Industry Initiated
  3. Multi-Center Clinical Trials
  4. Cannot be conducted at the Augusta VAMC as the VA regulations prohibit the use of a commercial IRB

Only cooperative oncology protocols

 

Adult CIRB reviews phase 3 protocols from the following cooperative groups:

  • ACOSOG
  • CALGB
  • ECOG
  • GOG
  • NCCTG
  • NCIC
  • NSABP
  • RTOG
  • SWOG
  • Other trials opened through the CTSU
Pediatric CIRB reviews all NCI-approved COG Phase 2, 3, and Pilot protocols

CRRI does accept electronic submissions at http://www.cirbi.net. Please visit CRRI's submission page for details.

Note that institutional routing still applies, and the principal investigator must copy the Office of Human Research Protection(OHRP@mcg.edu) and the Division of Sponsored Programs Administration (DSPA@mcg.edu).

Cooperative groups submit the protocol to CIRB.  Sites retrieve the approval packet from the CIRB website.

Institutional routing and a facilitated review process applies.

Fees

The Office of Human Research Protection (OHRP) Business Manager will bill the industry or corporate sponsor a one-time submission fee of $2500 and the fee for continuing review is $500. Studies that receive funding from non-industry or non-corporate sponsors or those studies with no external funding are exempt from the submission fee.  Please visit our policy regarding HAC submission fees. CRRI will bill the sponsor directly for each action. Make certain that this information is included during budget and contract negotiations. The Office of Human Research Protection (OHRP) Business Manager will bill the industry or corporate sponsor a one-time compliance fee of $750.  Please visit our policy regarding compliance fees. There is no fee associated with utilizing CIRB.
