Types of Studies

All studies that are conducted by MCG, MCGHI, or Augusta VAMC faculty, staff or students or that utilize any resources of the MCG, MCGHI, or Augusta VAMC Only those studies that meet all four of the following criteria:
  1. Industry Sponsored
  2. Industry Initiated
  3. Multi-Center Clinical Trials
  4. Cannot be conducted at the Augusta VAMC as the VA regulations prohibit the use of a commercial IRB

Note that institutional routing still applies, and the principal investigator must copy the Office of Human Research Protection(OHRP@mcg.edu) and the Division of Sponsored Programs Administration (DSPA@mcg.edu).

Fees

The Office of Human Research Protection (OHRP) Business Manager will bill the industry or corporate sponsor a one-time submission fee of $1,500. Studies that receive funding from non-industry or non-corporate sponsors or those studies with no external funding are exempted from the submission fee.  Effective July 1, 2008, IRB Submission fees will be $2500 and continuing reviews will be $500. CRRI will bill the sponsor directly for each action. Make certain that this information is included during budget and contract negotiations. The Office of Human Research Protection (OHRP) Business Manager will bill the industry or corporate sponsor a one-time compliance fee of $750.
