Adding Personnel to an Approved Protocol

No one is authorized to work with animals until all items listed below have been completed and the amendment approved by the IACUC.

Occupational Health Risk Assessment
He/she must complete the Occupational Health Screening Questionnaire on-line

On-line LATA training must be completed.  Go to http://www.latanet.com/client/mcg/introduction.htm

The user name is mcg and the password is bird. 

The Five (5) Modules listed below must be taken before you will be approved to work with animals

1. Occupational Health & Safety

2. Laboratory Animals

3. Principles of Replacement, Reduction and Refinement

4. Principles of Minimizing Pain and Distress and Developing Human Endpoint

5. Species Specific i.e. Laboratory Mouse

6. Laboratory animal allergies and asthma

 

• The PI must submit an amendment form to Ms. Whitlock requesting to add personnel to the protocol.  The IACUC will review the amendment and notify the PI when it is approved. http://www.mcg.edu/research/iacuc/AUPForms.HTM

•  Access to the Animal Care Facility (Card Key Access) – You must be listed on an approved protocol. Complete the room request form (link below) and send to LAS  CB 1901 https://my.mcg.edu/portal/page/portal/forms/Research/las/roomrequestform.xls

Note:  Access to the Barrier rooms or access to the CN Animal Facility cannot be given until you have had the in-house training
