William E. McBride, Jr. is the Director of the Public Safety Division and Chief of Police for the MCG Police Bureau.
The MCG Police Bureau is tasked with the responsibility of providing professional law enforcement programs that reduce crime, and create a safe community environment at the Medical College of Georgia.
The MCG Police Bureau established in 1973, is a full service State of Georgia Law Enforcement Agency staffed with ( 34 ) P.O.S.T. certified police officers, ( 9 ) Communication / Service Officers, ( 1 ) Records Supervisor and ( 1 ) Physical Security Manager. Our community oriented police agency provides comprehensive law enforcement to the MCG Campus, Hospital and Clinic areas. The Bureau's investigative unit investigates all criminal incidents reported to the agency. A 24 hour emergency and non-emergency communications center is operated from the Annex II building at 524 15th Street in Augusta, Georgia.
Department Standards
The Bureau maintains a high standard of response and service for the MCG community. The maintenance of this standard is dependent upon the feedback and input of the people we serve. The MCG Police Bureau has a process in place to respond to citizen complaints and concerns. The department also recognizes employees that have been deemed as providing outstanding service.
Please assist us by letting us know if our service has either exceeded your expectations or was less than expected. Our ideals for courtesy, professionalism, and equal treatment are enforced and maintained. A response to your concerns or your compliments can be reached by:
- Calling 721-2911 and requesting the on-duty police
supervisor (available 24 hours a day).
- Calling 721-2914 and requesting the on-call police
administrator (during business hours 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM)
- Address written correspondence to Chief of Police, MCG
