Why is there an MCG Alert?
Although university campuses are usually safe places, emergencies and disasters do occur. MCG is committed to keeping you as safe as possible through effective and timely communication prior to, during, and following emergencies.
Today we are forced to prepare for situations that we never could have anticipated happening and recognize the important role that immediate communication plays in keeping us safe. For that reason, everyone on campus has been automatically subscribed to MCG Alert.
How does MCG Alert work?
Through the MCG Alert system, the university can send and track messages at your MCG e-mail address and up to six phone numbers for each subscriber. The system sends messages via four different methods of communication:
Note: At this time, pager numbers are not compatible with the MCG Alert system.
Your MCG e-mail address and contact numbers are downloaded into the system from SoftServ for faculty or staff and PULSE for students.
What do I need to do?
It is crucial that the university is able to notify the MCG family immediately in emergency situations. Your assistance is needed to make the system as efficient as possible. Please log in to MyMCG and select the MCG Alert icon to review your contact information, make updates, and add additional phone numbers as desired. Adding your cell phone number or other contacts where you can most quickly and easily be reached is especially important.
