William E. McBride, Jr.

...is the Director of the Public Safety Division and Chief of Police at the Medical College of Georgia.  Chief McBride has been employed by MCG since September 17, 1995, and assumed his current position on September 1, 2006.

Born October 30, 1951, in Columbus, Georgia, Chief McBride served in the U.S. Air Force for 23 years, separating in September 1995.  While in the U.S. Air Force, Chief McBride served as a Special Agent, Air Force Office of Special Investigations (OSI).   His assignments included tours in New Mexico, Texas, Italy, Turkey, Florida, Ohio and Arizona.  Chief McBride worked in the areas of drug interdiction, anti-terrorism, counter-intelligence and a variety or other criminal investigative areas such as child abuse, homicide, undercover operations, and sex crimes.

During his military career, Chief McBride was the recipient of three Meritorious Service Medals, four Commendation Medals and the Air Force Achievement Medal.  He was twice selected as OSI Agent of the year.

Chief McBride is a certified law enforcement officer with over 27 years of combined Federal and State law enforcement service.  Chief McBride received a Bachelor of Criminal Justice Degree from Troy State University and has done graduate studies at Central Michigan University.  He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Fraternal Order of Police and the International Narcotics Officers Association.

Chief McBride and his wife, Terry, reside in Martinez, Georgia, with their son, Billy.
