Family child care programs may have up to six children for pay in their home at any given time. In addition, there is a two hour specified time of day that the provider may enroll an additional two children, age 3 or over, for pay (to care for before and/or after school children). This two hour time period must be on file with Bright from the Start - Georgia (BFS).
Often a family child care provider also provides care for his/her own children and others for no compensation. There may never be more than twelve children in the home at one time. The guidelines below require that an assistant, 16 years of age or older, be on hand any time the ratios below are met:
