Preface

To the 2001-2002 MCG Pediatric Residents:

The interactive talks that occur prior to continuity clinic each day have been given to help prepare the resident for general pediatric practice.  The choice of the subject of the talks, and, therefore, what is presented in this booklet developed from a combination of the speaker’s interests and requests from residents.  I have thoroughly enjoyed doing the talks, and I appreciate your being enthusiastic and interested in these subjects.

This booklet is not intended to be a comprehensive textbook of pediatrics.  While some of the information can be found in texts, much of the information presented here is a mixture of text, review of recent literature, practical information based on over 20 years of pediatric practice, and almost 8 years at MCG.  In addition, this booklet contains talks by other faculty members and residents.  I hope that you find this booklet helpful in your adjustment to pediatric practice.

Good luck in your career.  I have loved being a part of your teaching team!
