Achih H. Chen, M.D.

Dr. Chen grew up in Iowa, and attended college at the
University of Iowa where he graduated Phi Eta Sigma and with high
distinction in Physics with a minor in mathematics in 1990. He went on to
attend the University of Iowa College of Medicine. Following this, he
completed his surgical internship at Michigan State University. He then
returned to the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics to complete his
Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery training in 2002. During his residency,
he also completed an NIH-sponsored research fellowship studying the genetic
basis of hearing loss. Following residency training, he completed a
fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the UCLA-affliated,
Lasky Clinic in Beverly Hills in 2003. He then joined the faculty of the
Medical College of Georgia as Director of the Division of Facial Plastic
Surgery in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
Dr. Chen has co-authored several book chapters and more
than a dozen peer-reviewed journal articles. He has also been invited to
present his research at numerous national meetings. He is a member of
several medical societies including the American Academy of
Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and the American Academy of Facial
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Clinical Practice
Dr. Chen’s clinical practice covers the scope of facial
plastic surgery, but he has a special interest in cosmetic facial plastic
surgery, specializing in the deep plane facelift and the endoscopic
mid-facelift.
