 Two
genes have been closely linked to prostate cancer in families.
They are on chromosome one and one is on the X chromosome. In
the future, men may be able to know if they have an inherited
risk for prostate cancer before it develops. In addition,
physicians will be able to identify which patients need to be
treated aggressively. However, more work is needed before the
prostate cancer gene can be isolated and available for public
testing. |
