
President Reappointed to Council
Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue has reappointed MCG President Daniel W. Rahn as
chair of the 27-member Health Strategies Council.
The council ensures that adequate health care services and facilities are
developed efficiently and economically statewide. The council provides policy
direction and health planning guidance to the Georgia Department of Community
Health and the Division of Health Planning.
Dr. Rahn, who has served as chair since 2002, was appointed for four more
years. He also chairs the State Commission on the Efficacy of the Certificate of
Need Program and the University System of Georgia Health Professions Education
Task Force. He is vice chair of the Georgia Medical Center Authority and a
member of the board of directors of the Georgia Research Alliance, the Georgia
Cancer Coalition, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the Georgia Health
Decisions’ Board of Trustees. Dr. Rahn chairs the Health Workforce Shortages
Advisory Committee of the Association of Academic Health Centers and is former
chair of the association’s Council on Health Care Delivery and Infrastructure.
