Task Force Appointment

Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue has appointed Medical College of Georgia President Daniel W. Rahn to chair a new state task force studying the efficiency of a state licensure system for new health care services and expensive equipment.

As chair of the Health Strategies Council, Dr. Rahn will head the State Commission on the Efficacy of the Certificate of Need Program. Georgia requires health care facilities seeking to significantly expand certain services to justify those services through a certificate of need. The commission is charged to issue a report by June 30, 2007.
