Safety FirstFrom accurate patient identification, medication safety and infection control to an infant alarm system, patient safety is a top priority at MCG Health System. Over the years, the health system has launched several initiatives to maintain a safe environment for patients, and continues to identify areas for ongoing improvement. Recent campaigns have included initiatives to improve prescription-writing legibility, enhance hand-washing techniques, encourage patients to voice their concerns, upgrade infant security, maintain a computerized inventory of operating room supplies and bolster medication safety controls. “Each of us, every day, are capable of identifying areas of patient safety that are ripe for improvement,” said Sandra McVicker, senior vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer. “We continually strive to provide our patients with the very best of care.” |
