This survey may bring in dollars

Students, there’s money out there to help pay for your education. It could be yours if the private donor who has it just knew you existed.

Each year, MCG’s Office of Financial Aid receives information about scholarship opportunities from sources such as the Kiwanis Club, the Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation, the U.S. military and others. Unfortunately, because the institution is limited in the type of registration and federal financial aid data it can collect, students who may qualify for these scholarships or other funding opportunities go unidentified. A voluntary survey conducted by the Office of Decision Support hopes to gather this information.

On Monday, Sept.18, students will be invited by e-mail to take part in a brief online survey, a scholarship matching service unique in the state. Completely voluntary, the data will be used only to match eligible students with external donors, not for any internal purpose. Responses and contact information from the five-minute survey will be shared with potential benefactors as it relates to funding, but students may opt out of any question. Only relevant information on eligible candidates will be shared.

The Office of Financial Aid will offer this new service for a limited time each year in an effort to maximize potential funding sources for MCG students. This year’s survey will close on Friday, Sept. 29.
