Medical school faculty receive awards

The School of Medicine presented the following faculty awards at its April 19 Faculty Senate Awards Ceremony:

  • Dr. Clarence Joe, associate professor of radiology and orthopaedic surgery, and Dr. Vincent Robinson, professor of medicine and radiology: Institutional Service Awards
     
  • Dr. Vincent Robinson, professor of medicine and radiology: Institutional Service Award
     
  • Dr. Carol Nichols, assistant professor of cellular biology and anatomy: Basic Science Teaching Awards
     
  • Dr. Fenwick Nichols, professor of neurology and radiology, and Dr. L. Michael Prisant, professor of medicine: Clinical Science Teaching at the Senior Level
     
  • Dr. Carl Menckhoff, associate professor of emergency medicine, and Dr. Subbaramia Sridhar, associate professor of medicine: Clinical Science Teaching at the Junior Level
     
  • Dr. Yanbin Dong, associate professor of pediatrics, and Dr. Jennifer Pollock, professor of pharmacology/toxicology and graduate studies: Basic Science Research Award
     
  • Dr. Carlos Isales, associate director, Institute of Molecular Medicine and Genetics, and professor of cellular biology/anatomy, medicine and orthopaedic surgery, and Dr. Andrew Muir, associate professor of pediatrics and chief of pediatric endocrinology: Clinical Science Research Award
     
  • Dr. Karen Carter, assistant professor of pediatrics, and Dr. Mary Hughes, associate professor of neurology: Patient Care Awards
     
  • Dr. Cesario Borlongan, associate professor of neurology and graduate studies: Outstanding Young Basic Science Faculty Award
     
  • Dr. John Morgan, assistant professor of neurology and graduate studies: Outstanding Young Clinical Science Faculty Award 
     
  • Dr. John F. Fisher, professor of medicine: Educator of the Year Awards from the Classes of 2006 and 2008
     
  • Dr. David R. Haburchak, professor of medicine, and Dr. D. Scott Lind, professor of surgery and chief of surgical oncology: Educator of the Year Awards from the Class of 2007
     
  • Dr. Vadivel Ganapathy, chair and Regents Professor of biochemistry and molecular biology and professor of physiology, obstetrics/gynecology, medicine and graduate studies: Educator of the Year Award from the Class of 2009
     
  • The Department of Pediatrics, chaired by Dr. William P. Kanto Jr.: Outstanding Clinical Science Teaching Department by the senior class
     
  • The Department of Cellular Biology and Anatomy, chaired by Dr. Sally Atherton: Outstanding Basic Science Teaching Department Award from the Class of 2008
     
  • Dr. Vishal Arora, cardiology resident:  Resident of the Year Award
     
  • Dr. Ellen E. Courson, clinical assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology.: Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society Volunteer Clinical Faculty Award
