School of Allied Health Sciences honors faculty

by Jennifer Hilliard

The School of Allied Health Sciences presented awards during its April 12 faculty assembly and awards ceremony.

Dr. Gregory Passmore received the Faculty Research Award and Dr. Carol Campbell received the Distinguished Service Award.

Dr. Passmore, associate professor of biomedical and radiological technologies, joined the faculty in 1990 and is the former director of the school’s Nuclear Medicine Technology Program and former chair of the Department of Radiologic Sciences. His research focuses on diabetic ketoacidosis, a buildup of fat byproducts resulting from insufficient glucose.

He received a master’s degree in biology from Northeast Missouri State University, a master’s degree in nuclear engineering and medical physics and a Ph.D. in science education, both from the University of Missouri. Dr. Passmore is a member of the editorial review board for Medical Principles and Practice and the MCG Radiation Safety and Human Assurance Committees. He is a member of the Society of Nuclear Medicine, the Health Physics Society, the National Science Teachers Association and the American Society of Radiologic Technologists.

Dr. Campbell, who came to MCG in 1984, chairs the Department of Health Informatics and is the school’s associate dean for business operations and chief administrator of the Allied Sciences Practice Group. She is guiding the school’s Council on Education for Public Health accreditation process as chair of the Self Study Committee.

She received the school’s 1998 Distinguished Service Award and the Professional Achievement Award from the Georgia Health Information Management Association. She is a member of the Academy of Management and the American Health Information Management Association. Dr. Campbell received a bachelor’s degree in medical record administration from Loma Linda University, a master of arts degree in management from the University of Redlands and a doctorate of business administration from Nova Southeastern University.
