MCGHI honored for community valueby Danielle Wong Moores MCG Health System has been named a Community Value Index Top 100 hospital by Ohio-based Cleverley and Associates, a leading health care financial consulting firm that specializes in operational benchmarking and performance enhancement. MCG Health System is one of three hospitals in Georgia named to the list. The CVI scores a hospital in nine measures in the areas of pricing, cost of care, and financial strength and reinvestment, and suggests that a hospital provides value to the community when it has reasonable charges, maintains a low cost structure, is financially viable and is appropriately reinvesting in itself. “Our goal as a not-for-profit health system is to be a community resource for CSRA residents to obtain the health care they need, from the highest level of care to the most basic,” said Don Snell, president and CEO of MCGHI. “This award lets us know that we are succeeding in adding value to this community, despite a challenging financial climate.” The findings were released in Cleverley & Associates’ new publication, The State of the Hospital Industry, 2006 edition. |
