Giraffe helps out in NICU

Funds raised during the yearlong Children’s Miracle Network campaign have made it possible for the Children’s Medical Center to purchase its first Giraffe Omnibed® for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Features include a mattress that rotates 360 degrees to allow optimal patient access for caregivers; a larger, 19-inch mattress to accommodate larger babies or twins; a microprocessor that controls temperature while running continuous self-diagnostic checks; and an elevating base that accommodates taller caregivers or special procedures, and also lowers for seated family members.

“The Giraffe Omnibed is the most advanced and user-friendly technology currently available for intensively ill babies in the NICU,” said Barbara Meeks, vice president of Pediatric Care Services. “Thanks to the generosity of all the individuals and companies that supported the Children’s Miracle Network, we are able to offer state-of-the-art technology and innovative design to create an unsurpassed infant-healing environment.”
