Employee recognition - Way to Go

As we count down to the annual Employee Recognition Ceremony Oct. 12, the Beeper continues to highlight employees who will pick up service pins for multiple years with MCG. In this third installment, we visit with a 15-year veteran.

Debbie Dye has worked in the School of Dentistry since September of 1990, but her tenure at MCG goes back even further. She worked in the hospital’s ophthalmology department for five years prior to coming to the campus.

“It was always a dream and desire of mine to work for the Medical College of Georgia. I just felt this was such a caring and giving place, with helping hands reaching out to others, that I had to be a part of it.”

As office manager for Oral Biology and Maxillofacial Pathology, Debbie enjoys meeting new faculty from different parts of the world, being able to assist the dean’s office with promotion and tenure, and having good relationships with other staff members throughout campus.

“But,” she says, “I think working with Dr. George Schuster has been my best experience. He has taught me a lot about MCG policies and I have seen him fight for what he believes in and make a difference for his faculty and his school. Dr. Schuster is a good teacher, a good researcher and a good person; but, in reality, ALL of our faculty in the Department of Oral Biology and Maxillofacial Pathology work together to do a great job training dentists for our state. For me, working for the School of Dentistry is like having a family reunion every day.”
