School of Nursing conference room honors longtime Augusta businessman

by Jennifer Hilliard

A conference room in the Health Sciences Building honoring the memory of a longtime Augusta businessman was dedicated Jan. 11. The Lloyd E. Graybeal Conference Room is centrally located on the fourth floor School of Nursing research and administrative wing. Mr. Graybeal owned Graybeal Motor Co. Inc., for more than 30 years before his death in 2005.

The room, which was named with a significant donation from Mr. Graybeal’s widow, Rhonda, features a large conference table and chairs that Mr. Graybeal used at his business and several paintings from Mrs. Graybeal’s collection.

“This special room will be used for strategic meetings and distinguished guests who are visiting the School of Nursing,” said School of Nursing Dean Lucy Marion.

“Lloyd and I both knew what a need there was and still is for nurses and how important the MCG School of Nursing is in fulfilling that need,” added Mrs. Graybeal. “I wanted to do something to honor his memory and I felt like this was an appropriate way.”

Mrs. Graybeal owns Hang Ups Art Gallery and Custom Frame in Augusta and is a member of the School of Nursing Advancement Committee and MCG Health Inc. Board of Trustees.
