Juried art show to debut in spring

Arts Council hopes to begin annual event

by Sharron Walls

MCG may have more talented people per square mile than any other location in town, and we’re not just talking about those medically inclined. The campus has long supported the arts, featuring musical talent with the MCG Chorus and the Tuesday Noon Performance Arts series, thespians with the recently re-established MCG Players, and exhibits bringing the works of area artists to the Greenblatt Library.

This spring, The MCG Arts Council, with support from the Academic Council and Student Government Association, will sponsor a new opportunity for artistic expression – a juried art show open to students, faculty and staffs of MCG, MCGHI and PPG.

The show, under the direction of Department of Medical Illustration Chair Steve Harrison, will accept entries in various categories including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics and photography. Selected artwork will be displayed in several venues across campus March 30 through April 30. Prizes will be awarded by judges, and purchase awards are planned.

The entry fee is $10 for students and $15 for faculty and staff, per entry.

Watch for further information and entry forms in the Beeper and on the MCG Arts Council Web site, www.mcg.edu/artscouncil.

In the meantime, let your right brain go!
