Director's Welcome

Thank you for taking the time to consider the Medical College of Georgia Neurology Residency Program. As Dr. Hess has outlined briefly in his welcome letter, we are very encouraged about the future of Neurology and are looking forward to many years of exciting and interesting academic pursuits.

As you have seen our Neurology Program accepts three adult Neurology Residents per year and one pediatric Neurology Resident each year. However, we have very active fellowship programs with fellowships in Movement Disorders, Clinical Neurophysiology, Stroke, and Pain Neurology. These fellows work very closely with our Neurology Residents and allow them an even further resource during their training. Our Neurology Residency Program is an integral part to our Neuroscience Center of Excellence at the Medical College of Georgia and as a result we work very closely with the Departments of Psychiatry and Neurosurgery to provide a continuum of care for our patients as well as cross many borders in terms of clinical and basic science research.

This means our residents have a wealth of opportunities to pursue their own academic interests in both the basic science or clinical realm. This also offers them the opportunity of a great number of patients to further increase their clinical skills and become excellent Neurologists.

We have been very lucky to attract superior residents over the last decade and the level of cooperation among our residents is outstanding. Our department prides itself on our collegial atmosphere and our teaching to the residents and students.

We are sincerely devoted to the success of our residents and hope that you will consider us as part of your pursuits.

Thank you,

J. Ned Pruitt II, M.D.
