The MCG Dept of Neurology and the MCG Comprehensive Adult & Pediatric Epilepsy Program offers an intensive 2-year (as two 1-year renewable terms) epilepsy and EEG fellowship; The fellowship focuses on clinical adult and pediatric epilepsy, including interpretation of outpatient EEG, evoked potentials, inpatient EEG-video data, detailed review of inpatient Epilepsy monitoring cases, attendance during intra-operative corticography and WADA tests, performing in-house epilepsy consults, conference presentation and interpretation of data, along with developing an understanding of the basic tenets of neurophysiology, neuropathology, epilepsy surgery, and neuroanatomic localization as they pertain to epilepsy; some time interpreting sleep studies can be arranged. The emphases of this fellowship will include clinical and academic epilepsy. Participation in research endeavors is expected and strongly encouraged There will typically be one position every 2 years, and at any one time, there will typically be 1 Epilepsy and 1 Neurophysiology Fellow. The Fellow will participate and rotate through all clinical aspects of the Epilepsy Program; The first year position will primarily focus on clinical issues, though the fellow is expected to develop some research ideas, which can be expanded upon in substitution for clinical duties in the second year of the fellowship; While both fellowship years will be financially supported, the fellow is encouraged to obtain outside funding for the second year of the fellowship; Wherever and whenever possible funds will be offered to support educational endeavors by the fellow, such as attending conferences, journal subscriptions, texts, etc. Typically, the Fellowship is for physicians who have completed a residency in neurology at an accredited institution -- however, physicians who have completed a similarly accredited residency in neurosurgery are also encouraged to apply (in these cases, the fellowship will feature one year of focused epilepsy surgery). Interested and qualified applicants should contact Dr. Ki Lee through the Epilepsy Office at (706) 721-3371. | ||||||||||||||||||||
