Copying and Backing Up EndNote Libraries and Filters

It is important to make back up copies of essential or customized EndNote 7.0 files.

For example, exporting to an EndNote Library is only exporting text, not copying an EndNote Library database. To create an exact copy of an EndNote Library:

1. Open the EndNote Library (*.enl) to be copied
2. File > choose Save a Copy.
3. Name the new EndNote Library and choose where to save it.
4. Click Save.

When images are included in the library, Save a Copy command creates an image folder for the new library and copies all images to it.

It is recommended to make back up files of any customized file - Connection Filter, Import Filter, or Output Style.
