Save Ovid MEDLINE references away from the EndNote workstation

Normally, use Ovid's Direct Export feature to move references from Ovid MEDLINE to an EndNote Library. However, if searching Ovid away from the EndNote workstation, save results for later import into an EndNote Library.

  1. Search Ovid MEDLINE.
  2. At Citation Manager:
    • At "Citations" choose the citations to retain
    • At "Fields" select Complete Reference
    • At "Citation Format" select Redprint/Medlars
    • At "Save Action" click Save
SAVE ACTION: at Save Citations page, click "Continue" and follow directions to name the file and save as plain text(*.txt) file.

    EMAIL ACTION: click Email.
At Email Citations page, enter email address and click "Send Email."
When email is opened, save and name as a plain text(*.txt) file.

  3. Import plain text into the EndNote Library with the MEDLINE (OVID) import filter.

  4. Open the EndNote Library to receive the references.
  5. File > Import.
  6. At Import Data File, retrieve the plain text file by clicking Choose File...
  7. At Import Option, choose MEDLINE(OVID).
  8. Click Import.
