Direct import from PubMed (Fig. 9):
- Open an EndNote Library (*.enl).
- Search PubMed.
- Check each reference to be saved.
- Change the pull-down display menu from the default setting “Summary” to "MEDLINE".
- Press Display button.
- Press Save button; Save As box opens, save to directory of choice as plain text (*.txt) file.
In EndNote:
7. File > Import (Import box opens)(Fig.10):Import Data File – click “Choose File” and retrieve saved plain text file.
- Import Option – choose “PubMed (NLM).”
- Press Import button.
References transfer to the EndNote Library.

As diplayed in Fig. 10:
- the import data file “placebo effect in PubMed.txt” is chosen.
- at Import Option, "PubMed (NLM)" is selected as the most appropriate filter from the menu choices.
- the pull-down menu displaying choices for Import Option conceals the Import button.
