Installation for Cisco Wireless Network Card

Requirements:
  • Type II or Type III PCMCIA slot (with card and socket services already loaded*)
  • 31/2” floppy drive
  • CD-ROM Drive
  • Windows CD**
  • Windows 95/98***
Components:
  • Cisco Aironet 350 Wireless PCMCIA Network Card
  • Cisco Aironet Wireless Installation CD
  • Quickstart Guide
  • Windows 95 Installation Floppy
Windows 95 Installation:
  1. Suspend you notebook and insert the Cisco wireless card*
  2. When the Add New Hardware Wizard window opens, click Next.

  1. When the next dialog box opens, select Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended) and click Next.
  2. Select Floppy Drive A:\, deselect all other options, Insert the Cisco Aironet Windows 95 Installation Floppy into your computer’s Floppy drive and click Next.
  3. If a window appears indicating that the pex500.sys file could not be found, enter the path A:\ and click OK.
  4. If you are prompted to enter a path to the Windows 95 operating system files, do one of the following:
  • If the Windows 95 operating system files are installed on your computer, they should be in the C:\Windows\Options\Cabs folder. Enter this path in the Copy files from dialog box and click OK.
  •  If the system prompts you for the Windows 95 operating system CD, insert the CD into your CD-ROM drive, enter D:\Win95 (where D is your CD-ROM drive) in the Copy files from Dialog box, and click OK.
  1. When prompted to restart your computer, remove any disks and click Yes.
  2. When the computer restarts, double-click My Computer, Control Panel, and Network.
  3. Click the Protocols tab and select TCP/IP and Properties.

Windows 98 Installation:
  1. Suspend you notebook and insert the Cisco wireless card*
  2. When the Add New Hardware Wizard window opens, click Next.

  1. When the next dialog box opens, select Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended) and click Next.
  2. Select CD-ROM drive, deselect all other options, insert the Cisco Aironet Series Wireless LAN Adapters CD into your computer’s CD-ROM drive, and click Next.
  3. When the Client adapter driver is displayed, click Next to copy the files.
  4. If you are prompted to enter a path to the Windows 98 operating system files, do one of the following:
  • If the Windows 98 operating system files are installed on your computer, they should be in the C:\Windows\Options\Cabs folder. Enter this path in the Copy files from dialog box and click OK.
  • If the system prompts you for the Windows 98 operating system CD, insert the CD into your CD-ROM drive, enter D:\Win98 (where D is your CD-ROM drive) in the Copy files from Dialog box, and click OK.
  1. The Add New Hardware Wizard window re-opens indicating that the installation is complete. Click Finish.
  2. When prompted to restart your computer, remove the CD and click Yes.
  3. When the computer restarts double-click My Computer, Control Panel, and Network.
  4. Click the Protocols tab and select TCP/IP and Properties

* Please refer to the user guide that was provided to you by the manufacturer of your notebook for directions on how to do this.

** If a Windows CD-ROM was not provided with your notebook then the Windows files should be located at C:\Windows\Options\Cabs

*** We only support those operating systems listed; however, The Cisco CD-ROM has installation instructions for other operating systems we do not currently support. You may use the card with other operating systems but you do so at your own risk.
