Faculty/staff members should submit requests in writing to Library Technical Services (LTS)
for new lab or electronic classroom software or upgrades to existing
packages.
Software
installation requests must be received by mid-term prior to the semester for
which it is needed. This provides time to discuss the request, review the
software, install the application, and test the application.
Software and site licenses should be available to LTS
at the time of the request. If the software is not yet purchased, allow an
additional (2)two months to the deadline dates.
Software
Installation: Software may be installed onto the campus labs for faculty/staff needing
the installation for educational purposes and ONE of the items below is
true:
- It
is freeware or released to the public domain (proof required).
- It is copyrighted, but the original diskettes OR the original license
agreement is available.
- It
is shareware, and the software is registered and the original
confirmation of registration is available.
- It
is a current site license product for which MCG holds the license.
Since
most software is licensed and not sold, it is necessary to own the number of
licenses available in our computer lab. The number of licenses needed will
be the maximum number of simultaneous users needed to operate the
software at once.
LTS
will hold the licenses or proof of legal use as long as the software is
installed on the network.
Restrictions: Some software
packages installed in the Electronic Classrooms are required and may not be
altered. This includes changes to the computers Operating System (Windows)
and the Office Products (Microsoft Office, Corel).
Final Approval: LTS reserves the
right for final approval on any software packages placed on the
network.
