General Information
The Library multimedia collection is comprised of computer software, videodiscs, slides,
1/2- and 3/4-inch videocassettes, audiocassettes, 16mm films, models and charts and is
located on the first floor.
The collection is accessible on GIL,
the Library online catalog. To search for audiovisuals only, use the Keyword option of GIL
and type +MCGAV in conjunction with your subject term. To search for
computer software only, type +MCGCS in conjunction with your subject
term.
Access to GIL is from the web on the MCG Library Electronic Resource Page
or from https://gil.mcg.edu/. For further
information or assistance, come to the library Information Center (LInC), or call
721-3441.

Circulation of the Multimedia Collection
Most materials from the media collection may be checked out for three days. Extended
checkout periods may be arranged. CIBA (Netter) slides, slides from the Slide Atlases of
Cardiology and Immunology, and/or slide trays are
available and also checked out through the LInC. Please return programs directly to the
LInC. Do not return media materials in a book drop, as they are fragile.
Audiovisual and Computer Software Reserves
Faculty-owned or Library-owned audiovisual and microcomputer programs may be placed on
reserve. Please
contact Education Services at 721-2994 for more information about placing a program on
reserve. More information is also available in the Reserve Collection Service handout.
Booking Audiovisuals
The Library's audiovisual programs may be "booked" for use on specified dates.
Requests are preferred in writing; booking forms are available at the LInC. Include the
following information; requestor's name, phone number, program name, call number, date and
time program will be picked up, and length of time program will be needed. At least five
working days' prior notice is requested. Programs may be picked up and checked out at the
LInC.
Previews, Rentals and New Purchases
Education Services will assist users in locating audiovisuals for possible purchase. All
previews and rentals of programs are initiated by the requesting department and should be
forwarded to purchasing. If you are interested in recommending or requesting a multimedia
collection purchase for the Library, please contact Education Services at 721-2994.
