Distance Education
Presentation Equipment Resources

The equipment listed below is standard equipment for MCG Distance Education facilities. All MCG Distance Education facilities are manned by trained technicians who will provide technical support and guidance for your presentation or program. Computer
In today’s technologically advanced environment the computer has taken the lead in presentation media. The computers in MCG’s Distance Education facilities offer the following features:

• IBM format
• Windows 2000
• Microsoft Office 97 or Microsoft Office 2000 (Professional Editions)
• Iomega 250 Zip Drive
• Internet access

The use of personal computers is allowed within all Distance Education facilities, however prior notification to OCRS is needed to insure all necessary cables are available for your computer.

Visual Presenter
The visual presenter (also known as Elmo Document Camera) is the most versatile piece of presentation equipment. Many different items can be displayed using the Elmo. For example

• Use as a chalk board
• Printed text: display the entire textbook or share the article you found in a magazine.
• Photographs: share your pictures or photos from a bound journal.
• Small items: syringes, petri dishes, inhalers.
• Hand demonstrations: explain the parts of a stethoscope, show movement of the hand
• X-rays

The visual presenter eliminates the need to make transparencies, simply print off a paper copy and away you go to class.

Videomate Slide Projector
The Videomate Slide Projector allows the use of standard 35mm slides. As a reminder, since the aspect ratio is different for a video presentation, previewing your slides before your presentation is advisable.

Video Cassette Player
The Video Cassette Player uses the industry stand ½ " VHS format. Tapes may be played back or with certain restrictions* recorded. Please contact OCRS should you desire to record any of your sessions.

* Recording of classes requires Liability Release Forms by both local and distant sites, and VHS tape supplied by the requester.

Video Pointer
The video pointer allows the user to superimpose a pointer icon over the image that is being presented. The pointer has several user adjustments that can effectively illustrate and enhance your presentation.

Microphones
Presenters utilize wireless microphones while students have a combination of ceiling/hanging microphones or tabletop microphones available for their questions or input. Voice projection and inflection are critical in a Distance Education facility since local amplification of voice is severely limited.
