PC Standards CommitteeTeam Charter

Purpose:
This committee has been formed to develop a recommendation for a standard configuration for Windows and Apple based desktop and laptop systems that will be endorsed for procurement during the coming year. The recommendation may allow for a standard for each of the determined functional levels (occasional user, power user, research faculty, etc.) This recommendation must consist of 1) a technical specification for the machine(s) and 2) suggested vendors, makes, and models. This committee will also develop a routine schedule for re-evaluation of standards.

Success Measures:

• Successful update to basic standards submitted at least annually.

Boundaries:

• This team will focus on Windows and Apple based platforms.
• This committee cannot communicate any commitment to an outside vendor or third-party in regards to these standards.

Operating Guidelines:

• This committee may ask for assistance as necessary from any person or vendor.
• Demonstrations must be coordinated with the Team Sponsor to provide benefit outside the mission of this committee.

Ground Rules:

1. Standards must be consistent with campus infrastructure and Enterprise Application (PeopleSoft, WebCT, etc.).
2. Standards must consider all appropriate purchasing rules and regulations.
