New to MCG

Welcome to the Medical College of Georgia! This site provides the basics you need to get started using computers and communication services at MCG.

NetID
All computing access at MCG is handled through your NetID. This ID is asigned to all new students and employees, and can be easily maintained at the MCG Self Service site.

E-mail
The university e-mail system is used for university business. Users will use their MCG netID to login to their e-mail using the client or via the web. Your e-mail address will be in the format of username@mcg.edu.

Anti-virus Software
MCG offers AV software to current faculty, staff, and students at no charge. Other software is also available for low or no cost

Connecting on and off campus
Wired and wireless network access is available throughout academic and administrative buildings on MCG's campus. Faculty, staff and students also can connect to MCG's network from off-campus across the Internet through a Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection.

Emergency Notifications
MCG Alert is a mass notification system specifically designed to assist universities in instantly disseminating emergency information to students, faculty, staff, and designated groups. During crises or other time-sensitive events, MCG will use this system to broadcast pertinent information, breaking developments, and appropriate response measures.

The IT Service Desk, a centralized computer troubleshooting service, provides assistance for faculty, staff and students three ways: by phone at 1-4000, via e-mail at ITService@mcg.edu, or in person on the first floor of the Greenblatt Library.
