If you log into the network using the Novell client it is done for you. For those who don't have the Novell client installed and want to sync the time on your machines, you may want to consider using a third party time sync application such as Automachron (http://oneguycoding.com/automachron/). Automachron is a freeware SNTP client - Simple Network Time Protocol - for synchronizing your computer's time with an NTP (Network Time Protocol) server. Automachron works under Win95/98, NT4, Win2000 and WinXP. The first time you start Automachron you will be prompted to enter a NTP host from which to get time.
On campus, use ntp.mcg.edu port 123 as your NTP host. It synchronizes with the firewall, which in turn synchronizes with atomic clocks.
Macintosh computers can set the NTP server (ntp.mcg.edu) in the Date & Time preferences. In OS 10.x Date & Time can be found under the System Preferences. Under earlier Mac operating systems, Date & Time is found in the control panel; check "Use a Network Time Server" and add the MCG NTP server under the Server Options.
