MCG netID

In an effort to reduce the number of usernames and passwords and to improve network security, all MCG campus employees and students now have a single password to login to the MCG network. This login and password is your MCG netID.

Your MCG netID is used for authentication to various services provided to faculty, staff and students at the Medical College of Georgia. Services which currently use the MCG netID are:

  • Application Xtender
  • Axium
  • File/Print Services - including NetStorage and iFolder
  • GeorgiaView Vista
  • GroupWise E-mail
  • GroupWise Instant Messenger
  • MyMCG
  • PULSE
  • Remedy
  • SoftServ
  • VPN client
  • WebCT

An e-mail notice from "" to notify you when your MCG netID password is about to expire will go out 14, 7, 2 and then 1 day before your password expires.

What this means to MCG computer users:

  • you will be prompted to reset your password every 90 days
  • previous passwords are stored and can not be reused
  • minimum password length will be 8 characters
(For Mac Users only: to avoid any problems logging into shared services passwords must be exactly 8 characters).
  • must include at least one letter and one number

You will be able to reset your password, using any of the following:

  • GroupWise client (go to Tools, Options, click the security icon)
  • Novell client (Ctrl, Alt Delete and choose Change Password)
  • Self Service Website
  • Web Access (go to Options on the upper right side, middle icon)
