Find computer's Media Access Code (MAC) address

In Windows 95, 98 or ME

Go to 'Start' and choose 'run'. type 'winipcfg' in the box and click 'OK'. A window will open up which has a lot of information including the Adapter Address. If the adapter address starts with a 44, you are set to the modem or PPP adaptor. Click on the down arrow next to PPP adapter and select your network card.

In Windows 2000, NT or XP

Go to 'Start' and choose 'run'. type 'command' in the box and click 'OK'. A terminal window will pop up. At the prompt type 'ipconfig -all' and hit enter on your keyboard. a bunch of information will scroll past including the Physical Address.

In Macintosh OS 8 or 9

Click on the Apple and go to 'Control Panels', under control panels find TCPIP. At the bottom of the TCPIP window there should be an info button, an options button and a question mark. If you just see the question mark click on 'edit' at the top of your screen, go to 'user mode' and change it to 'advanced.' Click on the Info button. The MAC Address is labeled Hardware Address.

In Macintosh OS X

Double click on the System Preferences icon or click on the apple and double click on System Preferences. Double click on Network. The Ethernet Address is listed at the bottom of the window.
