Purpose
This is to outline the service provided by Information Technology Support and Services (ITSS) to the Research In Motion (RIM) BlackBerry device through the BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES). This service will be provided on a cost recovery basis.

Services
ITSS will provide an operational BlackBerry Enterprise Server with connectivity to the enterprise GroupWise system. The support will include the setup and troubleshooting of the standard functionality of a BlackBerry device in conjunction with MCG’s enterprise email system. The mobile solution will provide updated information via the cellular provider to a supported device consisting of the following: email, personal address book, and calendar. Support can not be provided to any customer that is not utilizing an approved GroupWise client or BlackBerry operating system. The hours of operation for this support will coincide with the operational support for GroupWise.

Cost Recovery
All requests for the use of the BES will be processed on a standard Inter-Departmental Request (IDR) to the administrative section of ITSS. The IDR must be complete with the required information along with the user’s full name and email address.

Price

  1. One time cost for the Client License $70.00.
  2. An annual maintenance cost $30.00 (which will be billed at the beginning of each FYR).

User Responsibilities
It will be the responsibility of each user to obtain a supported device and the cellular coverage for that device. Any coverage or cellular problems will be resolved by the device owner and the cellular service provider.

Security
A feature of the BES and the BlackBerry devices is the ability to send a remote kill signal from the server. This will be done through a request from an approved source. This includes; but is not limited to the owner, department head, security authority, security coordinator, or a security officer.

Steps for setup
Please allow 5 business days from the date the IDR is submitted to ITSS administration.

  1. Obtain device and coverage (User).
  2. Submit IDR to ITSS administration (User).
  3. Process payment (ITSS administration).
  4. Create Account on BES (ITSS).
  5. Activate device connectivity with BES (User & IT).

This service will be available to employees of the following: MCG, PPG, HCCU, GCHC, MCG Foundation.
