MCG’s Division of Information Technology Support and Services provides reliable, complete IT services which a premier health sciences university demands. By providing a robust IT infrastructure and set of core services, ITSS relieves you of this burden and leaves you free to focus on executing the institution’s mission with full confidence that your data and applications will be available, accessible and secure.

The campus IT Service Desk is happy to serve as your single contact point for technical service and is centrally located in the Library. The Service Desk is open weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and weekend hours will be coming soon. Support is provided via e-mail (), telephone (x1-4000), or in person. Offices of the management team can be reached at x1-3840.

Your MCG netID is your single userid & password to login to the MCG network and many of the systems in use on campus. It is used to give you secure access to various enterprise services including the following:

  • GroupWise—the university's e-mail, calendar and instant messenger system
  • iFolder & Network File Storage—central storage to help you backup & save data files
  • SoftServ—online access to the human resources system to monitor and manage your personal and pay information
  • PULSE—online access to the student information system to manage your teaching responsibilities
  • WebCT—MCG's course management system
  • MyMCG—the campus intranet, providing individualized and campus-wide content not available on the public website.    

While the focus of our Division’s efforts will always be on providing the most stable & reliable IT resources possible, we also know you expect a lot of "features & functions" that can make your life as a member of the MCG community easier. Some of these features include:

  • 100% coverage for wireless access in all of our buildings
  • BlackBerry support and integration with campus e-mail
  • PC & Mac support for both desktops and laptops
  • Free software (or without significant costs) for use both on campus and at home including Endnote and Microsoft products
  • Employee purchase plan for microcomputers for personal use
  • Video conferencing services for your meetings with remote colleagues
  • Audio visual support for an enhanced instructional experience
  • High Speed network access gigabit to the desktop on-campus, high speed Internet access off-campus; Internet2 & National LamdaRail access to off-campus research networks.
  • Academic course design and development support to improve, enhance or supplement instructional content
  • Research technology support and consulting services
  • Data security consulting to assist in protecting confidential data and intellectual property from loss or disclosure.
  • Centrally managed file storage with backup & off-site disaster recovery management
  • Remote access for convenient, secure, anytime/anywhere access to enterprise applications and data stored on centrally managed file storage
  • Unified Messaging links voice and fax messages to a single mailbox accessible through a desk phone, cell phone, e-mail or PDA.
