Encrypted pages

What's Encryption?

An encrypted page is one that is secure. That means that information is encrypted before it's sent to the server where it is unencrypted to be processed. The URL that's in the location bar will start with "https://" if it is a secure page. Personal information should not be entered onto a web page that is not encrypted.

If you have entered information into a non-encrypted site, you should be sure to clear your browser's cache and delete all cookies.

How to find out if a page is encrypted

In Internet Explorer

If you are using Internet Explorer - choose File, then Properties, The window below displays. Connection should have "Encryption" somewhere in its entry. The other entries will be different depending on what server you're connecting to.

In Netscape 7

Select "View", then "Page Info", then the "Security" tab. The wording may be different than what's displayed below, but it will be apparent as to whether or not the page has been encrypted.
