Active Collaborations
Dr. Robert K. Yu, Medical College of Georgia
The collaboration with Dr. Yu began when Dr. Bieberich came
to the U.S. in 1996. The Bieberich and Yu laboratories work together
on the regulation of glycosyltransferases in glycolipid
biosynthesis.
Dr. Brian G. Condie, University of Georgia.
The collaboration with Dr. Condie was established when Dr. Bieberich
joined MCG in 2000. The Bieberich and Condie laboratories work
together on molecular mechanisms that determine embryonic
development and stem cell differentiation.
Dr. Edmond Ritter, Medical College of Georgia
The collaboration with Dr. Ritter was established in 2003 as
integrative research between clinicians (Dr. Ritter is a plastic
surgeon) and basic scientists. Dr. Ritter and our group work
together on signals that induce migration of cancer and stem cells
to understand and eventually block metastasis formation.
Dr. Somsankar Dasgupta, Medical College of Georgia
The collaboration with Dr. Dasgupta was established in 2003 when he
joined MCG. Dr. Dasgupta and our group work on bone-derived
cholesterol derivatives that induce breast cancer cell migration.
Dr. Dasgupta is a renowned lipid expert and is also involved in the
characterization of lipids in our other projects.
Dr. Anthony Guiseppi-Elie, Virginia Commonwealth
University
The collaboration with Dr. Guiseppi-Elie was established in 1999
when Dr. Bieberich was at the Medical College of Virginia. The
Bieberich and Guiseppi-Elie laboratories work together on the
development of neurochips using embryonic stem cells and engineered
surface coating of microelectrodes.
Further collaborations are established or initiated with
researchers at the University of Georgia, Georgia Institute of
Technology, Virginia
Commonwealth University, and Lund University (Sweden).
