The
Health of Our Society
The health of today’s children portends the health of our society in the
future. That’s why the GPI has formed strong alliances with schools,
parents, outreach organizations and other segments of the community to put
children’s health under the microscope today in hopes of creating a
healthier future.
The faculty’s collective imagination knows no bounds in making this
happen. For instance, GPI research takes place in the conventional
environment of a lab. But studies also unfold in classrooms teaching
children to meditate for stress relief ... and in homes as researchers probe
children’s food choices ... and in the GPI gym as children’s physiological
responses are evaluated during play.
GPI resources include a Cardiovascular Reactivity and Stress Laboratory,
Echocardiography Laboratory, Exercise and Human
Metabolism Laboratory, Body Composition Laboratory, Biochemistry Laboratory,
Molecular Genetics Laboratory and a mobile unit to measure body composition,
fitness and cardiovascular health. A bus transports children to the GPI gym,
labs or other locations for studies.
25 Years … and Growing
In just 25 short years, the GPI has earned an international
reputation as a preeminent source of expertise about wellness and
disease. And the momentum is only building. Please call
