Classification, Compensation and Recruitment
The Classification, Compensation and Recruitment section develops and administers the
institution's compensation plans for classified staff and
provides assistance with staffing needs by recruiting,
evaluating and hiring qualified candidates for classified
positions.
- Classifies new
positions and reclassifies existing positions
- Develops job
specifications
- Processes extra
pay/extra duty requests
- Conducts audits
of classified positions to determine appropriate title and
pay grade
- Participates in
salary surveys
- Develops/updates
the alphabetical index of classified position titles
- Recommends
changes to salaries based on market data
- Establishes/updates shift differentials, weekend premiums
and on-call rates
- Coordinates all
advertising of vacant positions
- Receive and
review applications and internal bids
- Screen or
interview applicants
- Develops pool of
qualified candidates for open positions
- Refers qualified
applicants and facilitates selection process
- Administer
competency tests to applicants
- Process
employment request and above-base hiring requests
- Arrange
pre-employment physical exams/drug screens
- Advises on
requests for temporary employment
