THE MEDICAL COLLEGE OF GEORGIA ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURES Office of Primary Responsibility - Human Resources - Compensation/Classification Subject: Process for Exceptions to Compensation Policy Requests For Classified Employees
1.0 Purpose: To present the procedures for providing an equitable, consistent review and approval of requests for exceptions to compensation policies.
2.0 Note: These exceptions may include hiring rate, promotion, demotion, lateral transfer, administrative adjustment and interim increase.
2.0 Procedure: Processing Exceptions to Compensation Policy Requests for Classified Employees. 2.1 Responsibility: Department 2.1.1 Recognizes need for an exception and obtains appropriate department approvals. 2.1.2 Completes memorandum and submits to Classification/Compensation. 2.2 Responsibility: Classification/Compensation 2.2.1 Receives memo from requesting department. 2.2.2 Date stamps memo and logs memo in log book. 2.2.3 Analyst / Manager reviews request and prepares a recommendation as appropriate. 2.2.4 Assistant types memo for Compensation Manager’s signature. 2.2.5 Assistant makes copies for Employment Staff as appropriate, original is mailed to department and a copy is filed with backup in Classification/Compensation. 2.3 Responsibility: Department 2.3.1 Department is responsible for processing a Personnel Action Request Form with approved salary.
