Chronology of Deans

Allied Health Sciences: First degree in an allied health field awarded in 1964. Formally established as a separate school by Board of Regents in January 1968, incorporating programs already in existence.

Dentistry: Established by Board of Regents in 1965. First students accepted in 1969. First degree awarded in 1973.

Graduate Studies: Established as a separate school by Board of Regents in 1965. Programs formerly offered under Graduate Division. First Master's degree awarded in 1951; first PhD in 1966.

Medicine: Established by legislative act in 1828. First degree awarded in 1833.

Nursing: Begun in 1943 (first degree awarded in 1945) at the University of Georgia in Athens; moved to MCG campus in Augusta in 1956. First baccalaureate nursing degree awarded at MCG in 1957.
