About School of Nursing To meet the health care needs of patients, the School offers academic programs from baccalaureate degrees through master’s and doctoral degrees in nursing. Programs include pediatric and family nurse practitioner, clinical specialist, and the nurse anesthesia program which has made U.S. News and World Report rankings. Campuses in Augusta, Athens, Barnesville, and Columbus allow students to access nursing education in a variety of geographic locations. The RN-BSN program is fully online with only two to three on-campus courses required each semester. The master’s program relies heavily on web-assisted instruction which makes it highly accessible to students. They can access course materials at the times they wish and from home or work settings. The nursing faculty and students work cooperatively and diligently to address the health care needs of the public and serve as leaders in the nursing profession. Graduates are making significant contributions in local communities throughout Georgia and across the nation. MCG’s nurse practitioner graduates and clinical specialists care for patients in a variety of acute care and long term care settings. Doctoral graduates pursue clinical research to advance the science and practice of nursing, and teach in colleges and universities to prepare future nurse graduates.
