Gift Types: Endowment

Benefiting the university in perpetuity, endowment gifts are invested to generate a steady stream of income for professorships, scholarships, fellowships, lectureships, book funds and many other purposes. The Board of Regents for the University System of Georgia defines an Endowed Chair at the level of a $500,000 commitment. Donors may help build a current endowment or create a new endowment by making a $10,000 gift.  Endowments may be unrestricted, which produce resources that can be used where the need is greatest or directed to a specific program.

Augusta physicians Joseph M. Still Jr. and Robert F. Mullins have pledged $600,000 over the next five years to the Joseph M. Still Jr. Endowed Chair Fund in Plastic Surgery at the Medical College of Georgia.
